Are you outraged at MDX TOLLATION?

Do you know that MDX owns the 836, 112, Gratigny, 874 and 878?

Do you know that by 2014 all these roads will be a closed system?  You will not be able to get on anywhere on these roads and get back off, even 1 exit without paying a toll.

Do you know that MDX does not report to the county or the state, but only to its bondholders?

Do you know that its board of governors are all appointed and not elected?

Are you concerned with the encroachment of MDX into the Palmetto, 826 through the 836 interchange?

Are you aware of the plans to take over the busway next to US1 from Kendall to Florida City and put tolls (US2)?

Do you know that July 17,2010 tolls were put on 878 which never had tolls before?  And, one week later, July 22^nd, MDX sold bonds totaling $412 million dollars.

We would like to thank Commission Chairman, Dennis C. Moss for allowing us to speak before the full commission on Thursday, November 4th at 9:30 am.

Roll Back Tolls will be bringing our concerns about MDX (Miami Dade Expressway Authority) and ideas for bringing much needed changes to this County “Authority”.  We want to learn why the county commission gave MDX the “authority” to take over State Roads that were previously managed by FDOT(Florida Dept. of Transportation) without any accountability to single toll or taxpaying citizen.

In our short existence we have discovered that many citizens and drivers that use MDX highways do not know who MDX is, how they came to be, in what way the money they collect is being used, why they are being charged higher rates for not having Sun Pass, on and on.

This meeting is just one of many thousands of steps that we will be taking in the months and years to come to bring awareness to our citizens.  But of course we cannot do this alone.  We need you, the person driving to work every day, going through the O.R.T., paying those toll by plate bills,  to get involved and have a say.  At times it may seem hopeless, but that is exactly what MDX is counting on.  For you to say, “I’m too busy to go to meetings”, “they won’t listen to us”, “you can’t fight city hall”.  Nonsense!  If these people want us to fund all their big ideas(many of which are not needed) then they will have to show us a lot more respect.  We will not “just pay and shut up” anymore!

We are pleased to announce that Roll Back Tolls will be participating in the upcoming Citizens’ Transportation Advisory Committee meeting this Wednesday, Oct. 20, 5:30 to 8 pm.  Location: Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW First Street, Miami, FL  33128, Commission Chambers.

We will be introducing our group to the committee and will briefly voice our concerns about MDX tolls and the organization as a whole.  You may view a copy of the agenda here.

This is but one of the many steps that we are taking to become more involved in bringing awareness to the community and the toll paying commuters of Miami-Dade County about MDX(Miami-Dade Expressway Authority).

Letter of support presented to us at our first meeting by the office of Juan C. Zapata, State Representative, District 119. Thank you for listening to the residents of Kendall.  We share many of the same goals regarding MDX, the way it functions and how it reports to the paying public that drives it’s roads.   It is very encoraging to know that Representative Zapata is on our side.  We look forward to working very closely with him as we demand more transperancy, accountability and respect from the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority.
